Practitioner Profile

Chong Zhao is a licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist based in New York. Born into a family with a rich heritage in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), he began learning TCM from his father at a young age. By the time he reached high school, he was already assisting with teaching and clinical training at his father’s school, gaining valuable hands-on experience early in his career. He later moved to Shandong to further his studies, where he participated in a national research project led by Professor Qiao Jianjun, focusing on massage techniques for treating perennial allergic rhinitis. After completing his formal education, he continued to refine his skills under the mentorship of several renowned TCM practitioners.

In 2009, Chong Zhao joined a medical team to provide medical support as part of an infrastructure development initiative in The Gambia. During his time there, he provided acupuncture and massage treatments to high-ranking officials, including Lang Tombong Tamba, the then Chief of Defense Staff, and Ousman Jammeh, then Minister of Energy. This experience not only enhanced his clinical expertise but also broadened his perspective on global healthcare needs. After his time in The Gambia, he immigrated to the United States and earned a master’s degree from the New York College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Chong Zhao specializes in treating a wide range of conditions, including pain disorders such as fibromyalgia, chronic pain syndrome, headaches, and sports injuries. He employs a holistic approach, combining acupuncture, massage therapy, and gua sha to address these issues. Additionally, he utilizes traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) principles to restore the balance of yin and yang, effectively managing sleep disorders, digestive health, anxiety, depression, and hormonal imbalances.

Since relocating to the United States, Chong has further developed his expertise in nutrition and supplements, guided by the Chinese philosophy of “food as medicine.” By integrating acupuncture, herbal medicine, and tailored nutritional plans, he has helped numerous patients with chronic conditions, such as hypertension and hyperthyroidism, reduce their reliance on medications and achieve significant clinical improvements.
